MAKING THE MOST OF NEW FOUND FREEDOM AND TIME (OR TRYING TO AT LEAST …)
At some point in my life, the adventures just seemed to stop …
At first, I didn’t really notice. I was too preoccupied with trying to “build a career” and trying to embark on a so called “normal” life.
Then I began to justify working hard, and making sacrifices, as being for the greater good.
I had convinced myself I should get as far as I could in my career and “bank” as much as possible, so I could pick up the adventure when I had more time and money. I was trying to buy my future freedom …
When reflecting on why I hadn’t continued with so many of my hobbies, I found myself using phrases like “life got in the way” when, in reality, I wasn’t making the time for the things I used to enjoy and valued most.
The last few years put me through a lot of turmoil in my personal life and career, and then all of a sudden in early 2024 “life” made the time for me, and presented the opportunity to restart …
THE UNFINISHED JOURNEY will, I hope, chronicle some of the new adventures, and reflect on some of the past!
The first big adventure planned, which I’ll be documenting, is participation as a circumnavigator in the Clipper 2025-26 Round The World Yacht Race!

I’m just a simple kind of man …
After almost two decades battling city and corporate careers, I’m just going to enjoy myself and the world for a while!

It’s really just a personal blog …
Don’t expect pro-level, extreme adventure activities — Do expect an ordinary guy trying various new adventure activities and re-visiting old ones
Don’t expect deep insight into unexplored, off the beaten track Insta worthy locations — Do expect a little bit of travel and exploration every now and then, and maybe some reflections on past adventures
Don’t expect professional, high-end, super crisp photos and videos — Do expect my, highly amateur attempts to capture my experiences (I’ll try to get better …)
WHY SHOULD YOU FOLLOW THE UNIFINISHED JOURNEY?
I’m not saying you “should” do anything. You can do what you want … that’s kind of the whole point …
If you want to see what happens to someone who has given up on the rat race, and to see what sort of mess he ends up in along the way, then it might be worth a follow …
The blog will cover travel and adventure plans / prep, new activities, and I hope will include some interesting photos and videos along the way along with an anecdote or two …
Occasionally, you might also catch me expounding on some philosophical concept or questioning human behaviour and psychoanalysis – it all depends on what I might be reading at the time!
